Thermomodernization – Achieve Higher Levels of Energy Savings

Thermomodernization is the process of upgrading a building to increase its energy efficiency. Through measures such as insulating the walls, roof, replacing windows and installing modern heating systems, you can significantly reduce heating costs, as well as improve thermal comfort in your home. Thermomodernization is not only an investment in savings, but also contributes to environmental protection by reducing harmful emissions.

Thermal modernization relief

The thermal modernization tax credit is additional tax support for those who have carried out thermal modernization work on their single-family home. It allows a deduction from income for modernization expenses, up to PLN 53,000 per taxpayer. Importantly, spouses can take advantage of the double limit, allowing a deduction of up to PLN 106,000. The allowance can be combined with grants, but it should be remembered that only costs not covered by the grant are deductible. The stages of thermal modernization that we can perform at Rentara Energy include:

  1. Energy audits – We assess the condition of the building and identify areas for improvement.
  2. Design – We develop a plan for thermal modernization, choosing optimal technologies.
  3. Thermal insulation – We insulate walls, roofs, ceilings and foundations.
  4. Window and door replacement – We install energy-efficient windows and doors.
  5. Heating system modernization – We install heat pumps, new boilers or renewable energy sources.
  6. Tests and technical acceptance – We check the correctness of the work performed and energy efficiency.

Each step is customized to maximize savings and efficiency.

How do I calculate the thermal rehabilitation allowance?

To calculate the relief, you need to:

  1. Identify eligible costs: Determine what costs incurred for the upgrade are eligible for relief.
  2. Deduct costs for subsidies: Deduct only those expenses that were not subsidized.
  3. Calculate the value of the relief: Multiply the remaining costs by the appropriate relief rate (12% or 32% depending on the tax threshold).
  4. Maximum amount: Check that the total deduction does not exceed the limit of PLN 53,000.

Example:

  • The cost of the photovoltaic installation was PLN 20,000. If you are in the first tax bracket (12%), you can deduct PLN 2,400 from your income.

Clean Air Program

The Clean Air Program is a government project to support owners of single-family homes in upgrading their buildings for energy efficiency. It includes subsidies for:

  • Replacement of heat sources: Old solid fuel stoves can be replaced with modern gas boilers, heat pumps or other environmentally friendly heat sources.
  • Thermal modernization of the building: Grants include insulating walls, roofs, ceilings, floors, and replacing windows and doors.
  • Renewable energy sources: Installation of photovoltaic panels or solar power systems, allowing you to produce your own energy and reduce your electricity bills.

The program is flexible and allows for different stages of modernization, and offers high amounts of subsidy depending on income.

Funding amount

Under the Clean Air Program, there are three levels of funding available, depending on income:

  • Maximum subsidy of up to PLN 135,000 – for the lowest income earners, covering comprehensive thermal modernization and installation of renewable energy sources.
  • Subsidies of up to PLN 99,000 – for middle-income earners who want to upgrade and replace heat sources.
  • Subsidies of up to PLN 66,000 – for people with higher incomes who want to benefit from basic thermal upgrading measures, such as furnace replacement and insulation.

Each of these levels of support allows for significant savings on building upgrades and improved living comfort.
